Prayers

To help you to pray
… Let peace surround you as you sit quietly.
… Let the hurry and worry of your life fall away from you.
… You are God’s child.
… God loves you and cares for you.
… God is here with you now – and always.
… Speak to God slowly and thoughtfully – give yourself time for God to bring things to mind.

    Trust in God
    God of ancient calm, let your peace still us;
    God of fearful storm, fill us with your awe;
    God of lonely plains, touch the empty spaces within us
    Where we are vulnerable enough to meet you.
    Amen.

    The Lord’s Prayer
    Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
    thy kingdom come, thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
    Give us this day our daily bread.
    And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
    And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:
    For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.
    Amen.

    A Prayer for Inspiration
    Lord, inspire me to give of my best and make good use of the talents you have given me.
    Show me how to be positive in attitude, appreciating and valuing others,
    always being ready to encourage and give praise.
    Sometimes I draw conclusions about people in terms of what I think is meant by ‘success’ and ‘failure’,
    but the ‘failure’ of one person might count as a great ‘success’ of someone with other talents.
    Lead me never to judge people but to accept others as they are, knowing that it is together,
    each with our differences, that we build up your Kingdom.
    Amen.

    A Prayer for Strength
    Father in heaven, we thank you that we can enjoy the gentleness and grace of your love in us and around us as we make time to listen and enjoy your word.
    Please strengthen us for your service and bless us with wisdom and knowledge of you.
    We give you thanks for answering our prayers and for everything in our lives that comes from you.
    We ask that you would bless our families, friends and colleagues with your protection and love, and that you would help us to love the people we struggle with and who do not love us.
    Amen.
