Harvest Festival

Harvest Thanksgiving

Our Harvest Thanksgiving Service will take place on
Sunday 24 October  2021

 Harvest gifts will be taken to the Church of Scotland homeless hostel at Cunningham House which has 23 rooms; 20 for men and 3 for women.

It’s a supported hostel, which means the residents, who can stay for up to 2 years, have their own room and self-catering facilities, but they can also access support while they get their life back on track before moving on to permanent accommodation.

They particularly appreciate tinned goods, breakfast cereal, toiletries, tea, coffee, sugar and long life milk.

We also require items (like your giant prize marrow!!) to decorate the Kirk.   Gifts can be brought to the Church on Friday 22nd 10-4 or Saturday 23rd October 10am-1pm.  It is useful to have the gifts in advance in order to decorate the sanctuary.

 We plough the fields and scatter the good seed on the land,
 but it is fed and watered by God's almighty hand:
 he sends the snow in winter, the warmth to swell the grain,
 the breezes, and the sunshine, and soft, refreshing rain.

 All good gifts around us are sent from heaven above;
 then thank the Lord, O thank the Lord, for all his love.

 We thank you then, O Father, for all things bright and good;
 the seed-time and the harvest, our life, our health, our food.
 Accept the gifts we offer for all your love imparts,
 with what we know you long for: ur humble, thankful hearts.

 All good gifts around us are sent from heaven above;
 then thank the Lord, O thank the Lord, for all his love.
